Today Univa announced a major new version of UniCluster:

New features include the below – keep in mind these capabilities extend to UniCloud as well. The result is greater mobility and higher performance in a cloud (or other) computing environment.
- Truly heterogeneous support: Software profiles can be created and deployed for multiple OS and computing environments – thus, users can create one Kit for deployment across a variety of OS's and hardware profiles.
- Scalability: UniCluster 5.0 easily scales to over 7,000 nodes through subordinate installer nodes.
- Robust Web-based API: UniCluster offers a unique, well defined web-based API to allow interfacing with the UniCluster core framework.
- Integrated management console: System configuration is consolidated into a single management application.
- OpenSolaris support: UniCluster 5.0 is a native OpenSolaris version, functionally equivalent to the Linux
UniCluster 5.0 will be available for public download in early December 2009.

Re: Announcing UniCluster 5.0
We will have a RC of UniCluster 5.0 in the next few days - we are still cleaning up bugs and doc for the final release. if you are interested in trying out the RC please reply to this post.
Regards,
Bill.
Re: Announcing UniCluster 5.0
Yes, I am very willing to try the RC.
It doesn't appear that the current UniCluster release works with CentOS 5.4. Hopefully 5.0 will, otherwise we'll be rolling our own cluster distro again...

Re: Announcing UniCluster 5.0
Hi Eric,
please email me at bbryce@univaud.com and I can get you access to the RC of UniCluster (and UniCloud). I should explain though that UniCluster 5.0 is quite different from 4.X We have rewritten major components of the system - making it more powerful, and flexible but there is no direct upgrade path right now from a 4.X to a 5.X cluster.
We are updating the 4.X code to support RHEL 5.4, CentOS 5.4 and OEL 5.4 though.
Regards,
Bill.

Re: Announcing UniCluster 5.0
Hi All,
We are just cleaning up some loose ends on UniCluster 5. Once that is complete and we have some decent docs we will release to all.

Re: Announcing UniCluster 5.0
Hi
just a question because I spent weeks to make a 4.1.1 installation and integrate that with GT4.0.8 and Gridway5.4, which is the road map for the 4.X release ?
during the 4.1.1 installation I found errors that I hope will be fixed during the time, so which is the end of life of this product ? and what about the 5.x generation ?
thanks for your infos,
Fabio
Re: Announcing UniCluster 5.0
Hi Fabio,
UniCluster 4.1.1 is still active. We are not adding new features but we do fix bugs and update the software to support newer versions of RHEL and CentOS.
We recently released 4.1.2 to support CentOS 5.4.
Once we release UniCluster 5.X then UniCluster 4.X will have two years until we no longer support the product.
Regards,
Bill.
